After sleeping in and doing a one stop Black Friday shopping thing we went back to see family and have breakfast. We were greeted with fresh coffee, biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs. We spent time hanging out before hitting the road to our next destination, Eureka Springs.
Our family lives a few miles outside of the Ozark National Forrest. The drive is very scenic with large hills and tight curving roads.
It took approximately 2 – 2.5 hours to reach Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

We checked in around 3 pm to the historic Basin Park Hotel. (May or May not be Haunted)
Eureka Springs has historically been called “The Little Switzerland of America” and “The Stairstep Town” because of its mountainous terrain and the winding up-and-down paths of its streets and walkways.
It is a popular tourist destination for its unique character as a Victorian resort village. The city has steep winding streets filled with Victorian-style cottages and manors. The old commercial section of the city has an alpine character, with an extensive street-scape of well-preserved Victorian buildings. The buildings are primarily constructed of local stone, built along streets that curve around the hills and rise and fall with the topography in a five-mile long loop. Some buildings have street-level entrances on more than one floor. The streets wind around the town, and no two intersect at a 90 degree angle; there are no traffic lights.
The hotel was opened in 1905 and still maintains many characteristics from its era.
We put our stuff in the room and immediately headed out for food and cold beers. We stopped at several interesting bars throughout the night and finished off at the Rowdy Beaver.
Morning came early and we decided to grab breakfast and make the 4 hour trip home. The weather was nice and the traffic was light.
We stayed clear of this guy!
We were happy to get home to the dogs!
