Yesterday we hit the road at 7:00 a.m. so Nic could make an early afternoon meeting in NW Arkansas. Once we were out of Kansas City proper it was smooth sailing with light traffic and great weather. I dropped her off and drove around exploring the area for a while and then picked her up and we hit the road back to KC. The weather was perfect for driving and was unseasonably warm, approximately 60°.
We noticed several roadside billboards along the way advertising a Beef Jerky Outlet. Since we are always down for road snacks we made it a point to stop in Lamar Mo. to refuel and check out the outlet. The place was bigger than we were expecting and had a super friendly lady working and pushing free samples. After trying several we picked a few flavors of jerky as well as chocolate covered pretzels and some super-hot cinnamon popcorn. The store is jerky themed (obviously) but also has a wide variety of rubs, sauces, marinades, snacks, dog treats, t shirts, jellies, and several other gift ideas. The Beef Jerky Outlet is definitely an interesting place that we will visit again when we happen to be in the area.
After twelve hours and 500 miles we made it back home safe.
